Join the Centre for Youth Literature to celebrate 21 years of innovative youth literature programming.

Melina Marchetta (Looking for Alibrandi, Froi of the Exiles) and David Levithan (Will Grayson, Will Grayson and Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist) will be toasting CYL.

CYL founder Agnes Nieuwenhuizen will chair a panel featuring Maureen McCarthy, Erica Wagner, Jenny Lovell, Libby Gleeson, Boori Monty Pryor and more familiar faces. Hear anecdotes and memories from celebrated authors who have contributed to CYL’s critical role in promoting young-adult literature and engaging Australian teen readers.

Refreshments will be provided.

Schools Program

Celebrate CYL’s 21st with authors!

Bring your Year 8–11 students to help our guest authors celebrate the Centre for Youth Literature’s 21st birthday at this inspiring day of stories, performance and writing!

The program starts with a Bookgig performance in which talented actors bring popular YA titles to life.

Students can then join celebrated author David Levithan in a conversation about books and writing with fellow writer Melina Marchetta (morning) or Cath Crowley (afternoon).

Finally, students will experience a hands-on writing workshop with one of our guest authors:

  • David Levithan
  • Melina Marchetta (morning session only)
  • Michael Pryor
